Brazil Travel: Holiday In Brazil

post time 23. June 2008 member admin

Are you looking to spend your holiday in Brazil? Many travelers, especially from Europe, prefer to spend their two or three week holidays in Brazil. Those of us in the United States do not have the luxury of having that long of a break from work but we can provide information for those who are considering Brazil for their holidays.

When travelers consider spending their holidays in Brazil they will often consider Rio de Janeiro. This is one of the most vibrant cities in the world–some have even said it offers the most beautiful scenery in the world. The Sugar Loaf Mountains guard the harbor entrance and the statue of Christ watches over the entire city. It is a sight for all to see.

The Carnaval
The nightlife is a big attraction to Rio de Janeiro, especially during the five days of the Carnaval. The Carnaval happens the Friday before Shrove Tuesday and is considered the biggest party on Earth. Those who live in New Orleans may like to argue that point, but the Carnaval is still quite the extravaganza.

A holiday in Brazil cannot only be spent in Rio de Janeiro, but inside of the Amazon forest, or along a sandy beach at a costal resort. Brazil can offer the luxury or ruggedness one may desire on their holiday. This South American country has much to offer the next time you are considering spending your holiday abroad.

Brazil Travel: Jungle Trekking

post time 22. June 2008 member admin

Jungle trekking is a great way to spend your vacation or holiday. This new phenomenon is sweeping across South America. Admittedly the most popular place in South America to go jungle trekking is in Peru. In Peru you can trek along the Inca trail or even all the way to the Machu Picchu.

Jungle Trekking in Peru
There are many other routes available for a jungle trek but if you do choose Peru and the Inca trail you are guaranteed to see amazing sites. This trail will take you through the high Andes along the original Inca highway, and give you a chance to visit extraordinary ruins, enjoy beautiful mountain views, and walk through strikingly different climactic zones. If you take a specific route you could even experience the very unique feeling of walking to Machu Picchu on foot.

Of course the next question out of any budget minded traveler is, How much does it cost? The cost of your trip will depend on how many days you trek and where you trek to. A quality South American jungle trekking trip will cost at a minimum $500 and can go as high as $3,000. Again there are many variables for finding a final price for your trip.

When you are looking to go jungle trekking it is advisable to find a good local and reputable company to trek with. Finding a good reputable company can help you avoid danger and save money. As with any country, working with good honest people can give you the security and the satisfaction you desire through your jungle trekking adventure.

Brazil Travel: Rainforest Tours

post time 21. June 2008 member admin

Rainforest tours have become very popular within the past two decades. Much of this popularity has stemmed from all of the publicity around conserving the Amazon rainforest. Nearly 40 percent of all the tropical rainforest left in the world is in Brazil. This makes Brazil and the Amazon a prime spot for rainforest tours.

Since South America is close to the equator, the climate is quite desirable. The average temperature is about 38°C or 82°F. Although the temperature is consistently in the 80s the humidity can be unbearable at around 80 to 100 percent depending on the season. There are two climate seasons in the rainforest, wet and dry. The wet seasons run from November to May where it rains practically every day, and June to October where you can experience short but heavy rainfall. You might want to bring rain gear and an umbrella for your trip.

Animals Along Rainforest Tours
The natural attraction for nearly all rainforest tours is the wildlife. If you are trekking through the Amazon you could see some of the nearly 40,000 kinds of trees and plants, 2,000 species of fish, more than 8,000 insects, 1,500 bird species, and 600 mammals. Encountering a monkey, snake or bird is also very likely along rainforest tours.

With only seven percent of Brazils population living in the Amazon region you are guaranteed to find seclusion and experience nature in its most natural form. Many of the regions rainforest tours begin and end at Manaus. In this city you can find transportation options, hotels, and some comfort before making your way through the amazing rainforest.

Brazil Travel: Rio De Janeiro Carnival

post time 19. June 2008 member admin

Every year around Ash Wednesday the Rio de Janeiro Carnival kicks off. This Carnival begins every year with the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro handing the keys of the city to a Dionysian character called King Momo. Once this happens the city turns into a constant party town for the next five days.

The Rio de Janeiro Carnival is planned for months on end and usually attracts 300,000 visitors. The focus of the event is mainly the parading samba schools. These schools train all year round to participate in these rhythmic contests that happen during the Carnival.

Carnival and the Samba Schools
There are two classes of samba schools–those that parade on the Avenida Rio Branco and those at the Sambodrome. Both of these schools are top quality dancing machines but the Avenida Rio Branco is considered less prestigious than the Sambodrome. If you are interested in watching these dancing schools during the Carnival you have two options–free and paid. The Avenida Rio Branco is free and open to the public. However, the Sambodrome can be quite expensive with tickets ranging in price from $200 to $700.

The Rio de Janeiro Carnival is not only made up of rhythmic dancing but also confetti, floats, masquerades, and Carnival balls. The rich and the poor can experience the Carnival since there are so many different things to do and see during Carnival week. This once a year extravaganza is famous around the world and is considered by some to be the biggest party in the world.
